KD2 WILDERNESS
KD2 Wilderness Area is a 6,500 sqare km conservation landscape
... and home to black-maned Kalahari lion, leopard, cheetah brown and spotted hyenas, along with semi-migratory wildebeest, eland, gemsbok, hartebeest, ostrich and springbok, among many other smaller wildlife species.
KD2 is a vast, unfenced wilderness adjoining Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. It contains picturesque acacia savanna landscapes and spectacular salt pans. It is an important wet season calving ground for herds of springbok and wildebeest, in addition to the largest free-ranging eland population remaining on the African continent.
KD2 forms part of a wildlife corridor that stretches from KTP in the south as far north as Kafue in Zambia.
The Name pan campsite is the only one accessible and you can book it in advance. However the area sees little traffic, so you may be the only one out there.
The wilderness campsite beyond Zutshwa at Name pans is accessible by 4WD only!
This is one of the last great wild areas of the world. Please treat it with respect. Visitors must be fully self-sufficient and assume all responsibility for their survival when venturing into KD2.

The Transit Route is a sand track (4WD only) that runs from Zutshwa to Kaa Gate at Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
Name Pan campsite is situated on the road between Zutshwa village and the Kaa Entry/Exit gate into the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, approximately 50km from the Kaa Gate and 22km from Zutshwa Village, accessible by 4WD only. It can be booked in advance.
